Hi, I could use some help finding a dog trainer. I’m training my 1 year old golden retriever, Luna, to be my service dog. She’s doing great with basic obedience but we need to work on task training, like retrieving objects for me. I also want to socialize Luna more in public settings and practice having her focus on working, not getting distracted. My mobility issues make it hard to handle these kinds of training sessions on my own. Do you have any recommendations for professional service dog trainers in our area who could help us take Luna’s training to the next level? I’d really appreciate any leads!

Hey there! Totally get where you’re coming from with training Luna. I had a similar journey with my lab, Max. For the specialized training you’re looking for, I’d highly recommend checking out Wasatchcaninecamp.com
. They’re fantastic with service dog training, especially the kind of task training and public socialization you mentioned.
A little story – when I started with them, Max was super energetic and easily distracted. We struggled with the same issues of him focusing on work in public. The trainers there really understood our needs and helped Max become more disciplined. They were incredibly patient and skilled in handling dogs with specific training needs like ours.
Their approach is very hands-on, and they’re great at tailoring the training to individual needs, which sounds like it could be a perfect fit for Luna, especially with your mobility considerations. Definitely worth reaching out to them. Hope this helps, and best
