The software on the XKEY doesn’t get updated often, but twice I’ve been “panicked” by updating the software; then having a whole slew of error messages and confusion with the XkeyPlus software. There really should be a check in there that, in addition to verifying the release of the XKEY itself, should verify the version of Plus that’s running. Otherwise, the update proceeds on the keyboard, and then a slew of nasty error messages (with no recovery suggestion) start occurring. You see the error if you QUIT Plus, restart, THEN the message that the version of Plus is incompatible with the current XKEY.

If the version of Plus is incompatible with the version to be downloaded to the keyboard, this should be preceeded with a warning to the effect that:

Please update your Xkey Plus software to version xx.x or higher before proceeding with XKEY firmware update (Cancel, Proceed Anyway)?

Also, which version of Xkey plus are you using ?

We usually release a new version of Xkey plus before we release a new firmware, to be sure both are compatible.
I’ll try to reproduce your issue by running the same versions you are using.

I don’t have a problem at the moment – just the suggestion. WHEN you run XKEY Plus, it immediately checks and offers to upgrade the firmware if it isn’t current. However, it really should either ask the question above or first recommend you download the new xkeyplus if the firmware is newer/incompatible with the xkey plus you are running.

I admit I don’t run the software frequently – but on 2 occasions I have been surprised/confused with the update apparently completed; but then nasty error messages in Plus about being unable to communicate with the xkey.
