Tagged: Propellerhead's Reason Xkeyair
While I’ve been able to control Reason (8.3.2) with my Xkey Air 25 just fine when not recording, as soon as I do attempt to record I get a message saying “MIDI input about to overflow! Your computer isn’t fast enough to handle MIDI input at this high rate.”
I can record with the Xkey via Bluetooth in Logic (10.2.2) without problems, so I know it’s not my computer (MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015, 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3). I’m wondering whether there might be a MIDI setting I can adjust on the Xkey, or if this is a matter Propellerheads needs to resolve–while they do seem to have CME on their list of controller manufacturers, I don’t see the Xkey on the sub list…
Hi Rob, first please update USB and Bluetooth firmware of your Xkey Air 25, then please make sure whether you select both MIDI IN and OUT in Reason (please try to only use MIDI IN), in some case this will cause MIDI LOOP with overflow.
Thank you, Zhao. I had updated the firmware but not specifically for Bluetooth. Once that was done the problem seemed to have been fixed. It is a little tricky with the Xkey Plus software, as the Bluetooth tab is not always visible.
Also, completely unrelated, I cannot seem to register my product via Xkey Plus either. It just says something is missing despite all fields being complete.
Thanks again for your help.
If you still get the problem, please send email to [email protected], we will try to help. Thanks!
